Homebirth & Birth Center Midwifery Care
Prenatal care is the cornerstone of a healthy birth. I address all aspects of your health including sleep quality, stress, nutrition, physical activity, emotional needs and more.
You do not need a referral to start care with me. I can order ultrasounds, lab tests or anything you need during a normal pregnancy. I am a preferred provided for most insurance companies and accept Medicaid and federal insurance.
Expect your appointments to last an unhurried 45 minutes to a FULL hour. You can contact me 24/7 with any urgent concerns. We will schedule additional visits if you have any extra needs.
Standard Prenatal Visit Schedule:
Initial Prenatal (90 minutes)
Every 4 weeks up to 24 weeks
Every 2 weeks from 24-36 weeks
Every week from 36 weeks on.
Labor and birth
Our team will be on call for you 24 hours a day from 37 weeks until 42 weeks gestation. We will provide continuous support starting in active labor. In early labor we will be in close contact, helping to optimize baby's position and mother's physical condition before the hard labor begins. First time moms or those with a history of long labors may want to hire a doula. We love doulas!
The birth team, which consists of a 1-2 midwives and a birth assistant, will stay in your home until both you and baby are stable, usually 4 hours postpartum.
If you desire a birth center delivery, I have admitting privileges to Haven Midwifery & Birth Center for your birth. It is a lovely, private suite located near Providence hospital. Additional fees may apply for use of the facility.
All visits are in-home so you can stay home and rest. I continue to be "on call" for you 24 hours after birth in case you have any urgent needs. Postpartum care includes physical check ups, breastfeeding guidance, metabolic screening for baby, well baby care, postpartum depression screening, recovery plans and nutritional support.
Postpartum Visit Schedule:

BUT…..you will get as many visits as needed. I will see a mom EVERY DAY in her home for the first week or more if you or your baby has challenges.
